ACOG serves as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for transportation planning within Central Oklahoma. The MPO includes city, town and county governments located in the Transportation Management Area, known as the Oklahoma City Area Regional Transportation Study (OCARTS) area. ACOG, in cooperation with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), the Central Oklahoma Transportation & Parking Authority (COTPA) Cleveland Area Rapid Transit (CART) and Citylink Edmond is responsible for the development of regional transportation plans and programs. The MPO’s planning process follows requirements outlined by the Federal Transit and Federal Highway Administrations. ACOG also coordinates its planning process with other federal, state, local and tribal entities responsible for airport, land use, natural resource and environmental planning, as well as coalitions that represent various modes of transportation, advocacy groups and private citizens.
