Public Interaction

Interacting with the public is critical to ACOG projects, particularly those that require public involvment as a primary component. For citizens to be involved and to provide input on the activities of the region, they must be informed enough to provide input, and be allowed an avenue and forum for offering their thoughts and ideas. ACOG’s public information and participation program is designed to meet both of these goals.

A key mechanism for providing information is through regular publication of the newsletter, Central Oklahoma Perspective, distributed 11 times a year to approximately 2,000 interested citizens, media representatives, local government policy makers and staff members, government agency personnel and state and federal legislators.

9-1-1 Dispatch is a quarterly publication produced by ACOG staff for 9-1-1 call-takers, emergency services managers, police and fire chiefs in the region.

Other special publications and news releases are prepared throughout the year dealing with particular subjects of interest to ACOG members and/or the general public.

Several presentations regarding regional plans and activities are made to civic organizations, classes, city councils and other groups. In addition, IGS staff monitor the availability of programs developed by other agencies that might be of interest to the Association’s membership and/or their citizens.
