The Association of Central Oklahoma Governments (ACOG) was created in 1966 by local governments to lead regional collaboration in Central Oklahoma.
Our organization is a voluntary, non-partisan association of local governments that includes 46 cities and the 4 counties (Canadian, Cleveland, Logan and Oklahoma) in the Central Oklahoma region. ACOG both complements and supplements local government activities but is not, in itself, a governmental unit.
The general purpose of ACOG is to encourage and facilitate local governments in the region to cooperate with one another, with other levels of government, and with the private sector to plan development of the region, and thereby improve the health, safety, and general welfare of Central Oklahoma citizens.

Who We Serve
The ACOG region consists of 46 cities and 4 counties in Central Oklahoma. Our diverse stakeholders include rural and urban constituents; elected and appointed officials; community, nonprofit and private sector leaders. ACOG is governed by a Board of Directors that includes Mayors, City Councilmembers and County Commissioners from Canadian, Cleveland, Logan and Oklahoma Counties.
ACOG SERVICES
9-1-1 ACOG
9-1-1 ACOG is a separate organization housed at ACOG. ACOG staff maintains and procures equipment for 21 Emergency Communication Centers (ECCs) across Central Oklahoma. 9-1-1 GIS staff manages and supports the MSAG (Master Street Address Guide) and 9-1-1 Map Data for 49 communities and covers a land mass over three thousand square miles and a population more than 1.4 million. In 1994, ACOG established the 9-1-1 Institute of Oklahoma to offer Central Oklahoma emergency dispatchers a nationally accredited alternative to expensive out-of-state training and has taught over 400 classes.
Air Quality
ACOG works in partnership and cooperation with local, state and federal partners including U.S. EPA to help ensure air quality standards for the Central Oklahoma region. ACOG’s work on behalf of the people of Central Oklahoma includes technical research including air quality monitoring, emissions inventory development, data analysis, modeling, and pollution control strategy evaluation.
Capital Area Economic Development District
ACOG is an official Economic Development District as designated by the U.S. EDA. As such, the organization is responsible for maintaining and updating the region’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). ACOG also administers the Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) grant program for Central Oklahoma and Community Development Block Grants (CDBG).
Central Oklahoma Clean Cities
Established in 1993 in response to the Energy Policy Act of 1992, Central Oklahoma Clean Cities is one of nearly 100 locally based affiliates of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Cities program. ACOG launched the program in 1995 Clean Cities advances the nation’s economic, environmental, and energy security by supporting local actions to reduce petroleum use in transportation. Their activities stimulate local economies, facilitate the adoption of new transportation technologies, and make communities cleaner, healthier places to live.
Transportation Planning Services (TPS)
ACOG is the federally-designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Greater Oklahoma City region. TPS staff coordinates and manages a $10 billion long-range transportation plan, as well as more than $20 million in annual federal grants for local transportation improvements. TPS also manages Active Transportation Planning and Congestion Management Efforts.
Water Resources
Provides technical assistance to local governments in an effort to maximize use of the ground and surface water resources, including planning, management, protection, and research of potable water supplies. Coordinates the Garber-Wellington Aquifer Association and provides drought monitoring services. Water Resource staff also maintains and updates a regional water quality study on the South Canadian River, which encompasses all the municipal dischargers along the river.
