ACOG Honors Retiring Board Officers and Longstanding Municipal Leaders for Their Service to Central Oklahoma

The Association of Central Oklahoma Governments (ACOG) proudly recognized the dedicated service and lasting contributions of four distinguished municipal leaders during its recent Board of Directors meeting. These leaders, who are retiring from public service, have been instrumental in shaping regional policy, strengthening local partnerships, and advancing the ACOG mission to improve the quality of life across Central Oklahoma.

Mayor Steven Gentling of Guthrie, who concludes his public service this April, has served on the ACOG Board since May 2015. Throughout his tenure, Mayor Gentling held several key leadership positions, including:

  • Secretary/Treasurer from July 2018 to July 2019
  • Vice-Chair from July 2019 to July 2020
  • Chair from July 2020 to July 2022

Mayor/Trustee Glenn Berglan of the Town of Goldsby, also retiring this month, served on the ACOG Board since February 2021. He contributed notably as:

  • Secretary/Treasurer from July 2022 to July 2023
  • Vice-Chair through April 2025

In addition to honoring these retiring officers, ACOG celebrated the longstanding service of:

  • Mayor Darrell Davis of Edmond
  • Mayor Peter Hoffman of Nichols Hills

“These leaders exemplify what it means to serve selflessly and with vision,” said ACOG Executive Director Mark W. Sweeney. “As they retire from public service, we express our deepest gratitude for their leadership, their advocacy, and their unwavering commitment to the people of Central Oklahoma.”

ACOG remains dedicated to continuing the legacy of these exceptional leaders by fostering regional collaboration, transportation and public safety initiatives, air quality programs, and economic development across its member governments.
