Protecting Oklahoma’s Future and Economy
A Smart, Business-Friendly Approach to Clean-Air
In Central Oklahoma, we believe in common-sense solutions that protect public health, support economic growth, and uphold our regional independence. The Association of Central Oklahoma Governments (ACOG) has developed the Regional Air Quality Plan to keep our region in good standing with federal air quality standards, protect local businesses from costly regulations, and ensure Oklahoma families enjoy clean air and a strong economy.
For decades, the Oklahoma City Metro has met EPA ozone standards, but in recent years, we’ve come dangerously close to exceeding federal pollution limits.
If the OKC Metro falls into Nonattainment, we risk:
✅ Higher costs for businesses due to increased regulations
✅ Loss of federal highway and infrastructure funding
✅ More government intervention in state and local decision-making
By acting now, we can safeguard our region’s economic strength and energy independence while using Oklahoma-driven solutions to improve air quality without overreach from Washington, D.C.
Pro-Growth and Pro-Oklahoma Solutions
This plan isn’t about mandates. It’s about opportunity and choice—helping businesses and communities save money, innovate, and stay competitive while ensuring a healthier future for all Oklahomans.
✔️ Energy Leadership: Oklahoma has long been a leader in responsible energy production. Companies like Devon Energy and Dolese are investing in cleaner, more efficient operations to reduce costs and strengthen our economy.
✔️ Business-Friendly Incentives: Programs like the Oklahoma Emissions Reduction Technology Rebate help businesses cut costs and adopt next-generation energy solutions.
✔️ Smart Transportation Investments: The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, expanded EV infrastructure, and improved roadways mean less congestion, lower fuel costs, and a stronger economy.
✔️ Community-Driven Progress: We’re putting local decision-making first—working with businesses, industry leaders, and residents to develop practical, voluntary air quality solutions that make sense for Oklahoma.
Keeping Oklahoma’s Economy Strong & Competitive
A strong economy and clean air go hand in hand. Healthier air means fewer missed workdays, lower healthcare costs, and more opportunities for economic growth. Companies investing in efficiency and clean technologies are creating new jobs, attracting investors, and securing Oklahoma’s place as an energy powerhouse for generations to come.
Take Action: Keep Oklahoma in Control
We all have a role in keeping federal overreach at bay while ensuring Oklahoma remains a business-friendly, economically vibrant state. Whether you’re a business owner, policymaker, or resident, you can help:
✅ Support smart, voluntary air quality initiatives that benefit businesses and communities
✅ Take advantage of state and federal incentives to reduce costs and improve efficiency
✅ Stay informed about air quality efforts that keep our region strong and independent
