STRENGTHENING REGIONAL 911 SERVICES: ACOG LAUNCHES NEW GRANT PROGRAM FOR EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS CENTERS
ACOG is proud to announce the launch of the 911 ACOG Grant Program, a new funding opportunity designed to help Emergency Communications Centers (ECCs) in the 911 ACOG Service Area upgrade technology, enhance service reliability, and improve regional interoperability. With approximately $1.3 million available in 2026 (Year One), this competitive program represents a major step forward in empowering local governments to modernize their 911 capabilities.
The grant program opens for applications on December 30, with all submissions to be made through ACOG online grants portal powered by Foundant.
Why This Grant Program Matters
ECCs are the backbone of public safety—serving as the first point of contact when residents dial 911. As technology evolves and the demands on these centers grow, so does the need for reliable funding to support innovation and modernization.
“Our mission is to ensure the region’s 911 systems remain resilient, interoperable, and ready for the next generation of public safety needs. This grant program gives ECCs the tools to make that possible,” said Brent Hawkinson, ACOG 911 & Public Safety Director.
The program supports projects that improve ECC operations, upgrade technology, and encourage regional collaboration. Funding may be used for initiatives such as shared infrastructure, cybersecurity enhancements, system consolidation, improved connectivity, and other efforts that strengthen 911 services for multiple jurisdictions.
Funding Highlights
The Year One (2026) cycle of the 911 ACOG Grant Program offers:
- Approximately $1.3 million in available funding
- Project awards ranging from $50,000–$250,000
- Up to $3,500 per person for ECC staff conference attendance
- No cash match required (voluntary matches provide scoring benefits)
Coordination with State Funding:
The 911 ACOG Grant Program can provide matching funds for projects applying to or receiving funding from the OK911MA statewide grant program, helping ECCs maximize investment and reduce local financial burden.
A Regional Approach to Public Safety
ACOG leadership views this grant initiative as a vital step toward strengthening the region’s emergency communication infrastructure.
“Central Oklahoma is growing, and so are the expectations for fast, accurate, and technologically sophisticated emergency response services. This grant program empowers our local ECCs to meet those expectations with confidence,” said Mark W. Sweeney, AICP, ACOG Executive Director.
Looking Ahead
ACOG anticipates strong interest in this first year of funding and encourages ECC directors, administrators, and public safety partners to begin planning early.
By investing in modern, reliable, and interoperable 911 systems, our region is taking decisive steps to ensure that help is delivered quickly, effectively, and with the support of the best technology available.
